CEBU CITY, Philippines – A cook, and a man on PDEA-7’s target list were arrested in two separate buy-bust operations on Friday evening, September 15, 2023.
In Cebu City, a man who works as a cook was nabbed with P340,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in a mountain barangay.
The alleged suspect was identified by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) as 36-year-old Martin Hentapan, a cook and a resident of Sirao, Cebu City.
According to the agency, the operatives seized from Hentapan two packs of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams.
The confiscated illegal drugs had a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P340,000.
Also confiscated were a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other non-drug evidence.
The pieces of drug evidence were submitted to the laboratory for chemical analysis and proper disposition.
Leia Alcantara, spokesperson of PDEA-7, relayed that the alleged suspect is believed to be a member of a newly identified drug group operation in Metro Cebu.
She also said that they did a three-month case buildup before the operation was put underway.
She added that Hentapan can dispose of around 200 grams of illegal drugs per week.
The buy-bust operation that led to his arrest was the result of a case buildup of three months.
The personnel that helped in making the buy-bust operation a success were elements of the PDEA-7 and police officers from the Mabolo Police Station.
The buy-bust was done around 7:05 p.m. in a mountain area in Sitio Hoyohoy, Barangay Busay, Cebu City.
Meanwhile, a man whose name appears on the target list of the PDEA-7 landed in jail after getting caught with P68,000 worth of suspected shabu in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on the same day.
The separate operation was conducted by elements of the PDEA-7, Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU-7)- Metro Cebu CIT, and Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 3.
The buy-bust, which led to the arrest of one person, took place in Purok Caimito, Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City at around 8:30 p.m.
The alleged suspect was identified by PDEA-7 as 41-year-old Alfie Malanog alias “Alfie Sumalinog,” a resident of Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City.
Malanog is among the individuals listed in the PDEA regional target list.
Seized from the alleged suspect were five packs of suspected shabu weighing around 10 grams with an estimated market value of P68,000, stated the agency.
Personnel also confiscated one cellular phone, one motorcycle, and other non-drug evidence during the operation.
According to the agency, the confiscated pieces of suspected illegal drugs have been submitted for chemical analysis and proper disposition.
Alcantara said that during their monitoring, they found that the alleged suspect can dispose around 50 grams of illegal drugs per week.
Both arrested persons in the two separate operations are now in the custody of the authorities.
According to PDEA-7, Hentapan and Malanog will most likely face charges of selling and possession of illegal drugs. /rcg
