CEBU CITY, Philippines — ARQ Builders, Artera Builders, HomeSourced, and Angel Mary logged convincing victories as the Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Season 2: Cebuano Cup moved to its new venue at the Mandaue City Sports Complex (MCSC) on Saturday evening, September 16, 2023.

Reigning first runners-up ARQ Builders outlasted newcomer Team Banilad Luigi Bercede (TBLB), 79-71, while Artera Builders clobbered Prayboys, 100-87.

In the other games, HomeSourced narrowly edged WJV-HP, 89-84, while Angel Mary routed Quadernos, 79-60.

ARQ remains unbeaten in two games after beating TBLB behind Elmer John Villabrille’s game-high 18-point outing. Villabrille added four rebounds and two assists.

Frange Omolon also scored 18 points for TBLB, but that wasn’t enough to stop ARQ’s dominance in the painted area as ARQ tallied 52 points compared to TBLB’s 38.

Meanwhile, Artera Builders’ Warren Canete unloaded 15 points to go with eight assists and five boards to lead his team in clinching their first win.

Mark Quiapo spoiled his 29-point game, so did Carl Alivio’s 17 markers in the Prayboys’ defeat.

On the other hand, James Villafuerte led HomeSourced’s win by tallying 20 markers with seven dimes and three steals.

WJV-HP’s Nelson Caballero and Jefrey Perater scored 18 and 17 points, respectively in their losing efforts.

Lastly, Joemarie Beldoro exploded for 19 markers and was two rebounds shy from logging a double-double game in Angel Mary’s win.

Dane Padinas matched Beldoro’s scoring spree with his 20-point game but failed to give Quadernos their much-needed win.
