Teachers, non-teaching personnel in Lapu-Lapu City to get P2,000 World Teachers Day incentive

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Teachers as well as non-teaching personnel from DepEd Lapu-Lapu City Schools Division will receive a cash incentive worth P2,000 each on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

This was after the city council approved an ordinance giving the cash incentive to teachers, in line with the upcoming celebration of World Teachers Day on Thursday.

On Tuesday morning, the city council conducted a special session for the approval of the said ordinance, authored by Councilor Annabeth Cuizon.

“As soon as possible gyud karong October 5 kay mao may pag-celebrate sa atong World Teachers Day. In fact ilaha nang giandam ang ilang payroll kay kahibaw naman silang daan nga ma-approve gyud no. Magpasalamat ta sa atong mga konsehal nga gi-approve gyud in mass motion,” Cuizon said.

Aside from the teaching personnel from the public schools, teachers from the Lapu-Lapu City College will also receive the amount.

Cuizon said that more than 3,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel will receive the cash gift.

“Atong hatagan ug final copy karong adlawa, aron mapirmahan dayon ni Mayor Ahong (Chan),” she added.

Earlier, the DepEd announced that they will also give a P1,000 cash incentive to mentors all over the country to honor them during the World Teachers Day celebration.       /rcg
