The P10 flagdown rate discount on taxis remains in effect after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) denied the petition to suspend its implementation filed by transport groups in today’s hearing.

Lawyer Antonio Enrile Inton Jr., LTFRB board member said they immediately denied the proposal due to inadequate basis. He cited the movement of prices for spare parts and other factors as reasons.

“The provisional order has been immediately implemented after its publication. Also it is within the power of the board to issue fare adjustment,” Inton said.
The reason cited on the provisional order for the P10 flagdown rate discount that was issued last March 9 was the decline in oil prices.

The LTFRB board will still have to convene on Monday for the final resolution on the taxi fare. The MCTOA is the only group from Cebu who joined other taxi operators across the country for a joint motion for reconsideration.
