CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police arrested an Indian after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol that resulted in a road accident in Moalboal town, southern Cebu where four people got injured, including a traffic enforcer.
The accident happened around 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, the Moalboal Police Station confirmed.

How the accident involving an Indian happened
A certain Gurbinder Singh Pannu was driving his Isuzu DMax pick-up truck, and got flagged down after a traffic enforcer, identified as Jhon Ellis Villarino, caught him counter-flowing and hitting two incoming motorcycles.
However, Pannu, 35, reportedly refused to cooperate with authorities and sped away towards Barangay Poblacion East, also in Moalboal.

Car chase between Indian and police
Then a car chase ensued with Villarino pursuing Pannu.
When the vehicles reached a blind curve in Brgy. Poblacion East, Villarino managed to catch up with Pannu.
But the foreigner instead of stopping allegedly hit the enforcer with his pick-up truck and attempted to escape. Responding police officers from Moalboal Police Station caught him a few minutes later.
According to investigators, Pannu tried to resist arrest. He also reportedly cussed at the arresting officers and threatened to kill them.

Driving under the influence of alcohol
Police believed Pannu had been driving under the influence of alcohol.
A total of four people got injured, including Villarino, and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The other victims in the road accident included the drivers and passengers of the two motorcycles that first got hit. They were identified as Michael Suerte, Aileen Resma, and Samuel Salas Flores.

Charges to be filed against Indian
In the meantime, Pannu was brought to the custody of the Moalboal Police Station pending the charges to be filed against him.
Moalboal is a fourth-class municipality located approximately 70 kilometers southwest of Cebu City.
