CEBU CITY, Philippines – The barangay captain of Lipata in Minglanilla town in southern Cebu is now asking the help from authorities as well as concerned citizens in identifying the skeletal remains unearthed on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Eleno Ong, village chief of Lipata, Minglanilla, confirmed that skeletal remains were dug by construction workers in a development site in Upper Linao on Thursday morning.
Ong, in an interview with Cebu-based radio station dyHP, said they believed the skeleton belonged to a man.

Aside from the bones themselves, workers also found several clothing items including a basketball jersey shirt and a rubber baller band.
Initial information revealed that the skeleton may have belonged to a man who had been reported missing for seven years.
The barangay officials of Lipata, in the meantime, have already coordinated the matter with the local police in Minglanilla.
Minglanilla is a first-class municipality located approximately 19 kilometers southeast of Cebu City.
