CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildkittens hopped into the winning column after trouncing the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Greywolves, 83-70, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Cebu Coliseum.
It was the Wildkittens’ first win in two games, while inflicting the Greywolves their fourth loss without a win.
Four of the Wildkittens’ cagers chalked up double-digit points headed by John Guido who tallied 16 markers. Nathaniel Yurag and Sam Kyle Aballe each scored 14 points, and Kieff Suarez chipped in 13 points.
Christopher Bas had 18 points for the Greywolves, while Fritz Gonzales added 15. Jan Castor Nuñez contributed 11 in their defeat.
The Wildkittens were leading from the get-go leading as many as ten and went on to seal the first half with a six-point cushion, 42-34.
Instead of slowing down, the Wildkittens stretched their lead in the second half to 16, 57-41.
The Wildkittens exploited the Greywolves’ dismal shot selection, poor communication, and unforced errors, which translated to their huge lead.
CIT-U maintained their lead and even stretched it to 17, 71-54, their biggest as time winded down, ensuring them their first win in the league. / dcb
