Cebuano June Mar Fajardo shared an emotional Instagram post of him offering his Asian Games men’s basketball gold medal to his late mom, Marites.
Photos of his visit to his mom’s grave were posted on his Instagram account on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Fajardo’s mom, Marites, passed away in August 2021.

“Wish I could put this medal around your neck Ma!” Junmar wrote on his post.
The basketball player from Pinamungajan, Cebu was a self-confessed “mama’s boy.”
Fajardo, together with the rest of the Gilas Pilipinas won the gold medal in the recent 19th Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.

The 6-foot-10 Fajardo played a key role in the gold-medal run of the Gilas in the Asian Games.
Fajardo, also called Abai in Cebu, suits up for the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA. He is a 6-time PBA MVP and a 9-time PBA champion.
He also won a gold with the Gilas in the Southeast Asian Games and a silver in the FIBA Asia Championship.
