CEBU CITY, Philippines — Drivers who are planning and waiting to get their plastic driver’s license can start processing for it now.

This is confirmed by the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) Assistant Regional Director Engineer Arturo Roque Apolinar.

Process ongoing

Apolinar confirmed with CDN Digital on Monday, October 16, that the process of the plastic driver’s license was ongoing.

He said that those holders with paper-printed licenses could start requesting for LTO to print their plastic card.

“Punta lang sila dun kung sa’n nila kinuha ‘yung driver’s license nila. Dun na rin nila i-print yung card,” Apolinar said.

(They would just go to the office where they got their driver’s license. They can have their card (plastic driver’s license) printed there.)

Where to get it

“Kung saan in-issue yung driver’s license na papel, dun din nila kukunin yung [plastic] card kasi ipi-print yun pagka nag appear na siya dun sa LTO district office,” the LTO-7 assistant regional director said.

(Where their paper-printed driver’s license was issued, there they can get the [plastic] card, this is because this will be printed once they will appear at the LTO district office.)

Start issuing plastic cards

Moreover, Apolinar confirmed that this is now available not only in Cebu or Central Visayas but nationwide.

Last October 5, Thursday, LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II announced that LTO can start issuing plastic driver’s license cards to holders of expired and paper-printed licenses.

Mendoza also said that about 700,000 to 800,000 plastic cards have been delivered to different LTO offices nationwide, and 2 million cards are expected to arrive by the end of October. | with reports from Inquirer.net
