Cebu bus terminal accident: Man dies after falling off moving bus
A man who is said to be a non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education died in a vehicular accident right in front of the Cebu South Bus Terminal in Cebu City on Tuesday evening, October 17, 2023.
The victim, 57-year-old Erwin Omblero, a resident of Barangay Mantalongon in Barili, Cebu, was killed after he fell off the bus he was riding and was run over by it.
Allan Geraldizo, a bus dispatcher who witnessed the accident, told CDN Digital that he saw the victim trying to get through the closed doors of the bus while it was moving outside the terminal.
He added that after falling, the victim lay on the ground and was barely moving. He was also having difficulty breathing.
Parking attendant killed in Cebu City shooting
Meanwhile, a parking attendant was shot dead by a still unidentified assailant while he was working in front of an eatery in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City on Wednesday evening.
The victim was identified as 30-year-old Niño Dignos Dacuba, a resident of Sitio Callejon, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City. He was said to be standing by the roadside attending to parked motorcycles when a man approached the victim, drew a gun, and shot him twice.
According to the police report, the victim has been previously arrested and served a sentence for three cases of robbery, two cases of theft, and two cases of gambling.
Police are now conducting a follow-up investigation and hot-pursuit operation to determine the motive and arrest the perpetrator.

In other news, Lawyer Lionel Marco Castillano, director of the Commission on Elections in Central Visayas reminded candidates of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections to follow election laws so as not to jeopardize their candidacy.
Before the 10-day campaign period for the barangay and youth polls kicked off on Thursday midnight, the Comelec has already laid down a set of guidelines for candidates to follow.
These included having a standard dimension for promotional posters, in which the maximum size should not exceed 2 x 3 feet.
Posters should also bear the “political advertisement paid for/by” or “printed free of charge” phrase otherwise they will be considered illegal.
Aside from vote-buying, giveaways and handouts like shirts, ballers, bags, sun visors, hats or caps, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, ball pens, fans, candies, and other items of value, are prohibited, too.
