CEBU CITY, Philippines – The long weekend is here. However, the public is advised to observe several election-related prohibitions in line with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
More than 3.3 million voters from Cebu are expected to troop to voting centers this Monday, October 30 for the BSKE, which is declared a non-working day to give way for Filipinos to exercise their rights to vote.
Here is a list of some of the prohibitions.

First on the list: Liquor ban
Starting this Sunday, October 29, the liquor ban will take effect nationwide.
Under Resolution No. 10905 of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), drinking, selling, and distributing alcoholic beverages in public areas are prohibited.
Only foreign tourists in authorized hotels or establishments are exempted from this prohibition.
In turn, the electoral body advised those who want to consume liquor to stock up and drink them inside their own homes.

Liquor ban until October 30
“Remember to drink responsibly, and most importantly, ensure you cast your vote on election day,” Comelec stated in its resolution.
The liquor ban will run until Monday, October 30, or on election day.

Second on list: Campaigning on the Eve and Election Day
The last day of campaigning will be this Saturday, October 28. In turn, Comelec reminded candidates to wrap everything up by then.
Campaigning is no longer allowed beginning on the eve of Election Day, which falls this Sunday, October 29. Candidates are also barred from giving free transportation, food, drinks, and things of value on Sunday and during the election day itself.
Gambling on Election Day
Comelec has also prohibited the holding of fairs, cockfights, boxing, horse races, jai-alai or any other similar sports on election day.
Soliciting and Propaganda
On Election Day, it is not allowed to solicit votes or undertake any propaganda for or against any candidate within the polling place or within thirty (30) meters of it.
