The 10 mini compactor trucks turned over by the City of Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan to the Cebu City government was timely because the city doesn’t have any in its current inventory of vehicles.
Randy Navarro, chief of the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), said the city used to have 30 compactor trucks in the ‘90s but they broke down and were not repaired.
Randy Ardosa, head of the Department of Public Services, said the compactors will be at DPS for the meantime since he is still waiting for Mayor Michael Rama’s directive regarding the truck assignment to a selected barangay.
Cebu City Councilor Sisinio Andales questioned why the color of the trucks had to be changed from blue to yellow and green, the colors of the Team Rama party.
“We already paid for freight for how many millions of pesos then changed the color of the vehicles which is another additional cost,” Andales said. Rama said Yokohama City didn’t object to changing the color of the vehicles.
