LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Three men were arrested by the police for their alleged participation in illegal cockfighting or tigbakay in Barangay Buenavista in Carcar City, southern Cebu on Friday afternoon, December 8.
In a report, the Carcar City police identified the suspects as Arvin Marolano Aves, 52; Nicanor Abellaneda Benting, 59; and Ronald Empinado Dait, 33.
Aves is from Barangay Valencia while Benting is from Buenavista. Dait, on the other hand, is from Barangay Rosario, also in Carcar City.
In the report, the police said that they conducted an anti-gambling operation in Barangay Buenavista after Police Captain Warlito Tonacao received a report on the presence of tigbakay in said place.
Police arrested the three men and confiscated cash amounting to P290, 000; a dead fighting cock; and gaff with tape.
They also confiscated from Dait’s possession a .45 caliber pistol and magazine with seven live ammunition.
A complaint for the violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 that prohibits illegal gambling.
An additional charge for the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm will also be filed against Dait.
