CEBU CITY, Philippines — Despite varying opinions from mayors in different Cebu municipalities about the Sinulog 2024 venue, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama stands firm in his decision.

He continues to favor holding the Sinulog grand parade at the South Road Properties (SRP).

When asked for his response while currently in Australia, Rama affirmed, “I’ve said it, and it stands,” referring to his decision in favor of SRP.

However, several politicians, including Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Cebu City Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, expressed their preference in holding the Sinulog back to its original venue, the Cebu City Sports Complex (CCSC).

As of Tuesday, 14 local politicians voiced their preference to have Cebu’s biggest festival held in CCSC namely, Talisay City Mayor SamSam Gullas, Daanbantayan Mayor Sun Shimura, Tudela Mayor Greman Solante, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Sogod Mayor Moonyeen Durano-Streegan, Carcar City Mayor Patrick Barcenas, Liloan Mayor Aljew Frasco, Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado, Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales, Bantayan Mayor Art Despi, and San Fernando Mayor Mytha Canoy.

The mayors unanimously support hosting Sinulog 2024 at CCSC, citing its safety and better public accessibility compared to SRP.

Yesterday, the vice mayor, along with Cebu City Councilors Phillip Zafra, Jerry Guardo, Dondon Hontiveros, and representatives from CCDRRMO, CCTO, CCPO, and Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) Exec. Director Elmer “Jojo” Labella, visited both SRP and CCSC.
