LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Around 74 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in Lapu-Lapu City tested negative for drug use during a random drug test conducted by the City of Lapu-Lapu Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (CLOSAP).
The drug test was held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Social Hall of the Department of Education (DepEd) Lapu-Lapu City in Barangay Poblacion.
Garry Lao, executive director of CLOSAP, said that before testing, CLOSAP hosted a day-long training session on Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (SICAP-BADAC).

The activity aimed to fortify the skills and knowledge of local leaders committed to combating substance abuse.
Lao said that of the 74 Barangay and SK officials who attended the training, none of them tested positive.
The activity also aimed to review the drug-cleared status of each barangay.
Lapu-Lapu City’s drug-cleared barangays currently include Tingo, Baring, Tungasan, Caw-oy, Subabasbas (mainland barangay), and Sabang, while Caohagan remains a drug-free barangay.
