2 teenagers killed, 4 others injured in Consolacion accident

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Two teenagers were killed in a road accident after the motorcycle they were riding had a brake malfunction and rammed into a tree in a downhill portion Barangay Garing, Consolacion, Cebu on Friday evening, December 15, 2023.

A police report also disclosed that four more riders, all teenagers were injured in the accident. The vehicular accident which took place at around 7:00 p.m. on Friday and involved a total of 6 victims, including 4 minors.

The road accident was reported to the Consolacion Police Station at around 8:15 p.m., it stated.

Responding personnel found the six victims lying on the ground and brought them to the Eversly Child Sanitarium Hospital for immediate medical treatment.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 18-year-old Almaveth Oljol, who is a resident of Yati, Liloan.

Meanwhile, his passengers were an 18-year-old girl identified as Lovely Mae Comiso and four 16-year-old minors including the one who also died.

According to initial investigation, the motorcycle was overloaded with six individuals when the accident happened.

The teenagers were reportedly traveling in a downhill road when the motorcycle experienced a brake malfunction.

Because of the downhill terrain, the motorcycle lost its brakes then slammed unto the trunk of a tree and fell on the side of the road.

The driver and a 16-year-old female passenger were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the hospital while their four companions suffered injuries in different parts of their bodies.

Consolacion town is located around 20 kilometers north of Cebu City.
