Suspected thief mauled to death in Inayawan

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Investigations continue to shed light on the death of a 20-year-old man accused of trying to burglarize a house and then tragically mauled to death after being caught in Brgy. Inayagan, Naga City Cebu last Sunday, Feb. 4.

Police here confirmed the death of a certain James Lowen Mayan, a resident of Brgy. Tulay, Minglanilla town in southern Cebu.

The 20-year-old Mayan allegedly broke inside the house owned by a fireman in Sitio Sto. Niño, Brgy. Inayagan on Sunday dawn.

However, the fireman spotted and caught Mayan, who did not make it alive later on.

Police continued to verify Mayan’s cause of death as of this writing.

But they received reports that the fireman’s neighbours punched him multiple times. The alleged thief’s hands were also tied.

Interrogations are also ongoing between law enforcers and the fireman, police added. /clorenciana
