MANDAUE City’s police and traffic personnel are out in full force for today’s Traslacion and tomorrow’s fluvial procession held as part of the 450th Kaplag anniversary celebration.
Today’s “Traslacion” will have police escort the convoy of the Pilgrim image pass by the Mandaue City boundary in barangay Subangdaku highway to A. del Rosario to the National Shrine of St. Joseph, SPO4 Lino Baylosis said.
The Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño called on all parishes to inform devotees of the Traslacion route plan, including the foot procession to the Ouano wharf and the fluvial procession.
“We are calling on the devotees to welcome the Pilgrim image,” Fr. Rick Anthony Reyes, the Media Liaison Officer of the Pilgrim Center said.
The Traslacion convoy of Señor Sto. Niño is expected to arrive at the boundary at 10 a.m. and will head directly to the National Shrine of St. Joseph. Fr. Benjamin Cortes, asst. parish priest of St. Joseph Shrine, will officiate the welcome Mass.
Glen Antigua, asst. chief of operations of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) advised motorists to avoid passing through MC Briones and Lopez Jaena Highway between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Pilgrim image will stay overnight at the St. Joseph Shrine and devotees are allowed to spend sometime with it until the evening.
At 4 a.m. tomorrow, a Holy Mass for the sendoff of the Pilgrim image will be held before the 6 a.m. fluvial procession starting at the Ouano wharf.
The galleon carrying the image will sail towards Muelle Osmeña in Lapu-Lapu City and proceed to Pier 1 in Cebu City.
