More than 300 of the top junior netters coming from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will start their bid for glory today when the 2015 Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala Regional Age Group 2015 Visayas Leg 4 unfolds at the Consolacion Tennis Club in Laray, Consolacion, northern Cebu.
Originally set in Mandaue City, the six-day Group 2 tournament was moved to the Consolacion Tennis Club in Laray to accommodate the more than 300 entries as of yesterday’s count.
“This kind of turnout only inspires us in providing our youth more tournaments nationwide not only to further whip up our top junior players but also to discover fresh talents,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.
Spearheading the list of Cebuanos are University of San Carlos-BED’s Jan Godfrey Seno, who will be campaigning in the 18-Under Boys’ division, BRIGHT Academy’s Shyne Villareal, the fast-rising Elizabeth Abarquez and Lapu-Lapu City’s small champion Tiffany Claire Nocos.
But a slew of equally talented players will be out to foil them, including La Carlota’s Khenz Justiniani, Tracy Llamas, Alexa Milliam and Troy Llamas, Ormoc’s Nicholas Ocat, Manila’s Stephen Lhuillier and Dumaguete’s Ellaine Rose Bahonsua as well as those from Pagadian City and Lanao.
Meanwhile, the next leg of the annual, nationwide circuit will be held at the circuit’s home base in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on May 14 to 19.
Registration is ongoing with the host giving away souvenir shirts to all participants, who will also be treated to a day-tour of the Underground River and Honda Bay, among others.
