A Navy man was found dead with a gunshot wound in his chest on board the BRP Tausug docked in barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

S2YN Carlito Gonzaga Hintay Jr., a native of Cavite, was  found at his post aboard the vessel  which was docked at the PRCC Shipyard in sitio Tawagan.

A gunshot from the area was heard around 4 a.m. last Wednesday.

Colleagues later found a bloodied Hintay.

The death is still being investigated to determine if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or if foul play was involved.

PO1 Socrates Borinaga said Hintay had no conflicts with anyone at work.

Hours before the incident, Hintay was reminded by a senior officer to take extra care after Hintay  was seen playing with his M16 rifle.
