Boston leads the best-of-seven series, 1-0, following a 107-89 victory over Dallas in Game 1.
The defending NBA champion is the Denver Nuggets, who were ousted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals.

NBA Finals Game 2: Boston wins, has 2-0 lead
Jrue Holiday, Derrick White and the gritty Boston defense is working so far as the Celtics have a 103-89 lead with 3:55 left in the fourth.
Dallas ignited a 9-0 run to cut it to 5, 98-103, but Jaylen Brown ended the run with a basket with 29.8 second left.
The Celtics held on to take a 105-98 win in Game 2 of the NBA Finals 2024.
Jrue Holiday led Boston with 26 points while Jaylen Brown added 21 and Jayson Tatum and Derrick White chipped in 18.
Luka Doncic had a triple-double of 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists but it wasn’t enough to help Dallas take one in Boston.

The Boston Celtics erect a 69-63 lead with 4:56 left in the third following a basket by Jaylen Brown, who has 10 points so far.
Prior to that play, Jayson Tatum also scored a basket and got a foul but missed his gift shot. Tatum has 11 as of this update.
Boston extended its lead to 10, 75-63, after freethrows by Brown and a basket by Jrue Holiday. This is the first double-digit lead in the game.
Holiday now has 23 points.
The Celtics end the third period with a bang, as Payton Pritchard hit a buzzer-beating trey from close to the hafcourt line to give Boston an 83-74 lead going into the final period.

Derrick White hits a three pointer at the 7:48 mark of the second quarter to give Boston its first taste of the lead, 36-35, against Dallas in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
Boston held on to a 54-51 lead after the first half against Dallas.
Luka Doncic of Dallas leads all scorers with 23 points in the first half alone.
Jrue Holiday leads the Celtics with 17, including the last three pointer that gave Boston a 54-49 lead.
Other double-digit scorers at the half for both teams are Kristaps Porzingis (Boston) with 10 and Kyrie Irving (Dallas) also with 10.

Dallas is off to hot start, leading 13-6 at one point in the first quarter.
Luka Doncic has 13 points early as Dallas holds on to 22-16 lead against Boston with 2:20 left in the first quarter.
The Mavericks held on to lead, 28-25, against the Celtics after the opening quarter of Game 2.
The Celtics only hit one three-pointer in the first quarter courtesy of a late trey from Al Horford.

Dallas’ Luka Doncic to play in Game 2 of NBA Finals despite injuries
Luka Doncic will be available for Game 2 of the NBA Finals 2024, Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said.
Doncic was listed as probable Sunday morning with a sprained right knee and left ankle soreness. He was downgraded to questionable in the afternoon, with a bruised chest added to his list of ailments.

Jaylen Brown scored 22 points, Kristaps Porzingis added 20 in his first game in more than a month and the Boston Celtics powered past the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 on Thursday night (Friday morning, Philippine time) in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Derrick White finished with 15 points for Boston, which led by 29 points in the first half and connected on 16 3-pointers in a powerful start to its quest for an 18th NBA title.
