MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – A 30-year-old man was shot dead in front of a junk shop in Purok Tambis, Brgy. Umapad, Mandaue City on Wednesday afternoon, June 19.
Police identified the victim as Marlon Muaña Lañuza, who is a resident of the said place.
Based on the outcome of the initial investigation by personnel of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), Lañuza was standing outside the junk shop, that is owned by his family, when two still unidentified motorcycle riders arrived.

Police said that the backrider shot Lañuza several times, hitting him on his head, neck, and chest, with the use of a undetermined caliber.
The suspects immediately fled from the crime scene.

On the other hand, Lañuza succummbed to his injuries.
Mandaue police continue to investigate Lañuza’s killing as of this writing.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro, the MCPO spokesperson,said that they are considering personal grudge as a possible motive to the crime.
“Naa ni siyay posibilidad nga kaila ra pod sa biktima kining suspect. Mao na sa investigation sa kapulisan. Naa tay person of interest. According sa pamilya nga wala ra but basin sad pod nga sa laing mga kaila,” said Villaro.
Also, Villaro said that they have obtained CCTV footage that may help them identity the two suspects.
“Although blurred atoang paningkamutan nga ma-enhanced ang footage sa atoang mga ITs,” she added.
