IT WILL be an action-packed and fun-filled weekend in Borbon town, northern Cebu as four sporting events will be held there starting today.
As part of its campaign to promote the town, a motocross race, a horse show and competition and an off-road duathlon will be held in barangay Lugo, revealed Borbon Mayor Bernard “Butch” Sepulveda.
“Sports is not just for fun. It has a meaning in it. It is a medium of promoting or showcasing something,” said Sepulveda in a press conference last Thursday in Pino Restaurant. “That is why we in Borbon, we want to show what we can offer to the Cebuanos particularly our infrastructures and the beautiful scenery in our area through this endeavor.”
The 5th Mayor Butch Sepulveda Motocross Cup will usher in the busy weekend. The tournament will serve as the second leg of the 2015 MS Motosuit Motocross Series spearheaded by Cebuano businessman-sportsman Lou Ornopia.
Also set to be held today are the horse show and competition organized by the Cebu Equine Owners, Breeders, and Sportsmen Association featuring cowboys from Visayas and Mindanao.
On Sunday, top athletes will vie in a lung-busting three-kilometer run, 25-km bike race and another three-kilometer run duathlon.
