The Cebu City Niño’s Muay Thai girls’ team put up an impressive performance in the 2nd Women’s Festival of Martial Arts held at the SM Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila earlier this week.

The newly-formed Niños girls’ team managed to outshine more experienced fighters en route to winning two gold medals, four silvers and two bronze medals in the muay thai event.

“I am so proud of my players, especially that it’s just their first time to join a competition,” head coach Mary Ann Durado said of the team composed of  products of the comprehensive grassroots sports development program of the Cebu City

Sports Commission spearheaded by Edward Hayco. “It’s truly a good start for Team Cebu.”

Bea Kaye Labiste and Mary Grace Obrial gave the Niños a gold medal each after topping the “Wai Khru” or the forms and dance competition.

Lymel Villacrusis finished with two silvers after placing second in the Wai Khru and combat sparring competition. Brooke Kirsty Labiste and Jastine Mariel Auditor each chipped in a silver medal in the Wai Khru competition.

Niños bronze medalists were Jewel Dumaran and Joselle Uy.

The festival featured different martial arts events.
