OVER P1 billion worth of projects requested by Cebu City barangays for inclusion in the Annual Investment Plan for 2016 have been deferred by the City Development Council (CDC).
“There is a need to make sure projects are covered in the guidelines on the utilization of LDF (Local Development Plan) because the city has already been cited by COA (Commission on Audit) about it,” Councilor Margarita “Margot” Osmeña said during the full council meeting yesterday.
“We should make it clear that the cake has to be divided,” she added. Osmeña heads the city council’s committee on budget and finance.
The LDF is equivalent to 20 percent of the city’s Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) share.
Proposed projects include construction and rehabilitation of health centers, P40.3 million; con struction and rehabilitation of evacuation centers, P61.3 million; lot acquisitions for informal settlers and calamity victims, P125.7 million; construction and rehabilitation of multi-purpose halls, P138.7 million; installation and maintenance of street lighting, P10 million; and purchase and repair of rescue equipment, P10.9 million.
The barangays also proposed the construction of materials recovery facilities in different areas worth P18 million, drainage systems and riprap worth P165.2 million, and improvement of three-metereasements and construction of perimeter fences worth P81 million.
To promote economic development, proposed projects were P369.2-million roads and bridges, and P82.9-million tourism-related projects.
