CLAD in his signature all-white outfit from shoes to shirt, broadcaster-columnist Pablito “Bobby” Nalzaro posted bail of P10,000 for the libel charges filed against him by former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña.
Nalzaro paid P10,000 cash to the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 5 in Cebu City. Judge Ricky Jones Macabaya signed the release order.
“This is one of the so-called hazards of the profession. I will not run away from this case. I have to dance to the music,” Nalzaro told reporters.
His arrest warrant was served by Senior Insp. Delfin Bontuyan of the the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 7.
Bontuyan, who secured a copy of the arrest warrant early morning yesterday, went to GMA 7 and waited for Nalzaro to finish his morning radio program “Bobby Nalzaro on Board Saksi.”
Nalzaro had called up the police official the night before to inform him of his plan to surrender.
“Super Bob,” Nalzaro anchors the afternoon news program 24 Oras Central Visayas in GMA 7 and a morning radio program over dySS where he is station manager.
Nalzaro was accused of “intentionally” maligning Osmeña in his column published in Sun.Star Cebu on Oct. 25, 2014.
His lawyer Joan Baron said they will ask the court to defer the arraignment and suspend further proceedings while waiting for the Department of Justice to rule on their petition for review.
