Grenade explodes in German’s house

By: Apple Ta-as June 17,2015 - 07:02 AM

A HAND grenade exploded in the house of a German national in barangay Catarman, Liloan town, northern Cebu last Sunday.

No one was injured but police are investigating who  could have a motive to lob the grenade into the two-story house of Wolfgang Greif in sitio Landing.

Most of the glass walls were destroyed. The living room and the dining area were damaged, said  Senior Insp. Ramil Morpos, chief of the Liloan Police Station.

Damage was pegged at P400,000.

Greif and his Filipina wife Milagros were in their bedroom when they heard the explosion coming from the living room past 7 p.m.

Operatives of the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) recovered splintered fragments of an explosive casing and a lever of a hand grenade in the explosion site.

Morpos said the German pointed to a policeman-neighbor as a possible suspect.

Greif said he and the policeman argued a few months ago, and that the policeman pointed a gun and threatened to kill him.

The German later filed a complaint against the policeman with the National Police Commission.

Police investigators are also looking into reports that the couple also had a  conflict with some  neighbors including the lawyer who owns the compound where the policeman lives.

The  policeman is assigned in the Parian Police Station in Cebu City. He was not immediately available for comment.
