Manila contractor bids the lowest for CCMC project

A Manila-based contractor got declared as the lowest bidder for the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) project.

C. E. Padilla Construction gave the lowest bid of P514,979,659.28. Two other contractors were also declared eligible for the project — the joint venture of SCDI-MCEI as second lowest bidder with a bid of P530 million and E. M. Cuerpo as the third lowest bidder with a bid of P533,888,888.88.

Five bidders submitted their bids last Thursday morning at Cebu City Hall’s Social Hall. But two bidders were declared ineligible by the special Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) for CCMC.

Both Dakay Construction and the joint venture of WTG Construction and AM Oreta were unable to include a blueprint of their plans for the project in the bid documents they submitted which was one of the requirements.

City Engr. Jose Marie Poblete, who heads the special BAC for CCMC said the BAC’s Technical Working Group will now proceed with the post-qualification of the lowest bidder. He said it will take at least seven days but not more than 30 days.

Poblete said he hopes they can already award the project and issue a Notice to Proceed to the contractor by July in order to start construction next month.
