THREE houses were destroyed by fire in barangay Poblacion, Dalaguete town, south Cebu last Saturday night.
The fire started in the house of Alberta Buenconsejo.
FO3 Victor Villahermosa said the broke out after Buenconsejo’s 21-year-old son Joseph tried to kill bed bugs using a lighted newspaper.
Villahermosa did not notice that the mattress in his room had caught fire when he went to the comfort room to answer the call of nature.
The fire grew bigger and spread to two other houses.
Firefighters had a hard time putting out the fire since the affected houses were in the interior part.
Fire damage was estimated at P90,000.
