In a press conference, Health Secretary Janette Garin said the patient, whose nationality and name were withheld, was being treated for MERS at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City.
Meanwhile, she said that another person who had close contact with the patient had also been placed in isolation at the RITM.
The MERS case was referred to the health department on July 4.
A task force was organized by DOH to trace the 200 people who were at the same flight with the patient.
