The Cebu City Council revoked the 10 percent amusement tax exemption they earlier granted to TSE Live, Inc. for comedian Vice Ganda’s concert on July 19.
During their regular session Wednesday morning, the council reconsidered the resolution that was already approved by Mayor Michael Rama, covering the exemption.

Councilor Gerardo Carillo moved for the revocation considering news reports stating that City Hall only received P5,000 from the organizers as payment for a Special Mayor’s Permit for the event.
“This is a big show. If they only paid P5,000, it’s disadvantageous to the city,” Carillo said.
The council decided to impose the amusement tax equivalent to 10 percent of the total ticket sales for the event which should not be below P20,000.
Cebu City Administrator Dr. Lucelle Mercado, who chairs the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (CCAIB), earlier ordered the removal of three billboards in Escario St. in barangay Kamputhaw, along Ayala Access Road and along Pope John Paul II Ave. in barangay Mabolo. advertising the concert.
Mercado said the image in the billboard is “sexually suggestive.” The concert, dubbed as Vice Gandang Ganda sa Sarili sa Cebu (Eh di Wow!) is scheduled on July 19 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
