Products of CCSC grassroots program to vie in national BP

THE HARDWORKING volunteers and some products of the Cebu City Sports Commission’s (CCSC) grassroots development program will be made to compete for Team Cebu City Niños in the Batang Pinoy National Finals slated later this year in Cebu.

CCSC chairman Edward Hayco said he and the rest of the organizing committee is busy preparing for this major multi-sporting event.

Hayco said that CCSC’s volunteers composed of Cebu’s top athletes from various schools and universities will be his top priority to be included in the TCC lineup.

There will also be a selection process for those who have potential coming from CCSC’s grassroots development program.

“For me, having the Batang Pinoy held here in Cebu is important since it gives the young athletes an opportunity to compete at their own back yard without the expenses,” said Hayco.

Hayco said he expects a 500-man strong TCC.

TCC finished with 52 gold medals, 41 silvers and 45 bronze medals in Bacolod City last year for the overall title.

The Nationals will feature around 4,000 athletes coming from all parts of the country.

It will be held from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2. Mandaue City, the Cebu Provincial Government and Danao City will co-host the event.
