The Y101 Armscor Corporate Cup golf tournament returns to action today at the Cebu Country Club in Banilad, Cebu City.
The one-day tournament, which is held in line with the celebration of Y101 FM’s 35th anniversary, is expected to draw 50 teams and 200 golfers from Manila, Cebu and Mindanao.
The tournament will be making its return after a five-year break.
Among the highlights of the event is the Peugeot vehicle that is at stake for the golfer who can make a hole-in-one in one of the par-3 holes.
There will also be other exciting prizes at stake in the two other par-3 holes.
Exciting prizes will also be raffled such as 20 guns from Armscor. Unlike previous editions where teams used random names, the organizers will only allow the corporate names of the teams this year.
The tournament uses a Modified Stableford Scoring System and will be a four-man event with the best three scores to count for a team.
Tournament organizing committee member Nimrod Quiñones said in a press conference early this month that a mulligan is allowed in the front nine or back nine; an extra shot will cost a player P200. However, the player will not win a hole-in-one prize while using the mulligan option. Proceeds from the mulligan will go to a charity chosen by the organizers.
There will be prizes for the top three teams of the three categories—the Platinum, Gold and Silver.
Individuals with the lowest gross and lowest net per handicap category will also be getting prizes.
The tournament will start at 6 a.m.
