Eldest son of prominent entrepreneurs wants to start own business
EARL Christianson C. Ng, a 21-year-old student from Cebu, became the first Filipino to graduate at the top of his class in Hong Kong.
Ng was named college valedictorian for academic year 2014-2015 of the Chung Chi College (CCC), Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong SAR said in a post on its official Facebook page.
Ng completed two major degrees: Bachelor of Arts Major in Chinese Studies (with focus on Chinese business and economy) and Bachelor of Arts Major in Business Administration (with focus on Management Information Systems).
Ng, who was born and raised in Cebu, is the eldest son of prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs Wilson and Melanie Ng.
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Ng said he plans to start and run his own business.
He went to Hong Kong in 2011 to pursue a university degree as well as better understand the business environment and economy of China.
“For now, I’m going to be working at a company here in Hong Kong. Hoping to get a little more experience before I come back (to Cebu),” Ng said in an online interview.
“Eventually, yes hopefully, I will be doing business with China. What exact form that comes in, though, I’m not quite sure right now,” he added.
Ng was a CUHK dean’s lister in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013).
He was a recipient of CCC Scholarship in 2013 and CUHK, Kunkle and Pommenreke Grand Scholarship in 2013-2014, which is awarded to outstanding Chung Chi students who have shown excellence in their academic pursuits and have demonstrated leadership abilities and potential for further development.
He was also involved in extracurricular activities, focusing on entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation.
He is the current regional president of Kairos Society-Hong Kong and past president of Chung Chi College Toastmasters Club.
He used to write for the World Start-up Report and was a former project member of Enactus-CUHK.
Ng completed primary and secondary education at the Centre for International Education (CIE) in Cebu City.
