All set for MS Motocross Series Awards Night

IT’S the moment of truth for some of the country’s top motocross riders as they vie for the coveted “Rider of the Year” in tonight’s Awards Night of the MS Motocross Series PAGCOR’s Teatro Casino of the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The coveted award will be given to the rider who shone the brightest in last year’s series in the tournament spearheaded by veteran motocross organizer Lou Ornopia.

A total of six legs were held last year. The rider with the highest aggregate points will be crowned as the ‘champ among the champs’. Previous ROY winners include Pepo Rubi, Jon-Jon Adlawan and Burnok Mangusong

“It’s the time of the year again when we give due recognition to our riders not only for their exemplary performance last year but also for keeping motocross alive and kicking through the years,” said Ornopia.

Leading contenders for the ROY award are double champions Jubenile Abellar, Roscel Gungob and Jed Luna. Abellar is the overall champion in both the pro and expert open categories, Gungob bagged the executive A and B titles, while Luna lorded it over the open enduro and the beginners open production.

Also qualified for the award are the other category champions John Flores (intermediate), BJ Pepito (65cc), Keith Lloyd Abrenica (mini class 65cc), Alex Abalo (local enduro), JP Cuesta (beginners open production), Jonathan Cuyos (executive C), and JayR Gualiza (underbone).

Provincial Board Member Joven Mondigo from the Fourth District of Cebu will grace tonight’s affair. He will be introduced by Madam Richell P. Pestañas, a retired education program supervisor who is presently an administrator of a private school and college professor at the Cebu Technological University (CTU).
