Man faces child abuse raps

A MAN is facing trial for allegedly hitting his 13-year-old daughter with a steel bar and a piece of wood before submerging her in a drum of water.

The man  got angry when his daughter attended a benefit dance in barangay Lorega last Saturday.

He waived his right to a preliminary investigation.

Cebu City Assistant Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Casiño   recommended the filing of charges for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Bail was recommended at P80,000.

Cebu Daily News is withholding  the name of the accused to protect the identity of his minor age  daughter in this case of domestic violence.

In her affidavit, the girl  said her father confronted her for attending a benefit dance last week.

The victim said her father  got a thick piece of wood and hit her arms, hands and body then tried to  hack her with  a bolo before dunking her inside a drum of water.

“I tried to run to my mother but my father got a dust pan and tried  to hit me and my mother,” she said.

The girl and her mother were able to escape and report the incident to the police.

“I want him to be imprisoned,” the girl said.
