REP. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. of Cebu’s 1st district cannot be appointed as Liberal Party (LP) coordinator of the district because he’s not an LP member in the first place.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said he made this clarification to the 30-year-old congressman to clarify statements he made to the media on the first district chairmanship of the Liberal Party (LP).

“I told him that I understand his (declaration to step down as LP chairman of the first district) but I clarified to him that while (LP standard-bearer Mar) Roxas  preferred him, there was no mention of LP chairmanship in the first district because in the first place, he’s not an LP member,” he said.

Davide said a meeting between LP members and Roxas with President Benigno Aquino III will be held this Saturday, Sept. 12 to finalize the lineup of candidates in Cebu for next year’s elections.

The governor earlier said he will resolve differences between the LP members and the Alayon party of the Gullases.
