Davide willing to talk with Rama about 93-1lot dispute

CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III said he’s more than willing to sit down with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and negotiate terms on the province-owned lots in the city covered by Provincial Ordinance 93-1.

“We’ll sit down on this. We don’t want it to be delayed further,” the governor told reporters yesterday.

Davide spoke with the mayor who invited him to a meeting to discuss the Cebu City government’s reply to the province’s counter-proposal. No date has been set yet, the governor said.

Rama initially offered P500 million to purchase unpaid lots covered in the Province’s 93-1  ordinance spanning 32 hectares across 11 barangays in Cebu City.

The province responded by asking the city government to pay P500 million up front and allocate an additional piece of land near SM City Cebu worth P1.3 billion.

Davide said Rama was a good friend from their years of closely working together in the Cebu City Council before Davide was elected governor of Cebu.

“We don’t have to fight over the issue,” the governor said.
