GT Cosmetics Manufacturing Corporation general manager Engr. Leonora Salvane has recently been awarded the Semper Fidelis Award for Virtus Leadership last August 22 during the University of San Carlos’ 61st Grand Alumni Homecoming at the Grand Convention Center of Cebu. Engr. Salvane gained the distinction for successfully “applying the concepts of unit operations in the manufacturing of cosmetic products and putting up her own plant”.
Engr. Salvane earned her BS Chemical Engineering degree from USC Talamban Campus in 1977.
Since its outset in 1994, the Cebu-grown cosmetics company has always taken pride of producing premium quality and affordable beauty products for Filipinos while contributing to the betterment of the community it serves. This has been the guiding principle of the woman behind Cebu’s longest-existing local cosmetic brand as she continues to lead the company to attain more stellar achievements. “We’re not only existing for business but we also see to it that we commit to uplifting our community. We’ve been sharing to the community the knowledge and technology of soap-making that people may use to start up their own business,” said Engr. Salvane. “GT Cosmetics has also created employment opportunities for people to harness their skills and abilities.”
For Engr. Salvane, the acknowledgement she received is an opportunity for her and the GT Cosmetics team to continue their pursuit in coming up with more products that will benefit the people and contribute to the success of the cosmetics industry. “It is our responsibility to continue what we’ve started and prove ourselves worthy of all the awards we’ve garnered over the years,” Engr. Salvane said. As a testament to their commitment to doing more, Engr. Salvane said that they will be opening their third plant in Tayud, Liloan come first quarter of 2016 and will introduce more product lines that are over and above the existing cosmetic products in the market.
GT Cosmetics is also one of the newly enlisted members of the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines, Inc., the umbrella organization of finished product distributors, raw materials, packaging and ingredients suppliers, and manufacturers of cosmetics and related products in the Philippines.
