Candidates are limited to bring only three guests during the filing of certificates of candidacy to avoid crowding the office of the Commission on Elections, but this may not be the case in Cebu.
The rule will be applied based on the place and circumstances, said Cebu Comelec provincial Supervisor Lionel Marco Castillano.
“I will leave it to the election officer to address this, considering that our offices are also small,” he told reporters yesterday.
Last Oct. 6, Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista announced the new 3-guest rule as the poll agency expects a deluge of politicians and their supporters in the Comelec headquarters in Intramuros, Manila from Oct. 12 to 16.
Castillano recommended that a candidate bring only his or her immediate family inside the election office. But based on experience, candidates bring a crowd of supporters for a show of force.
