THOSE WHO witnessed the sparring session between the two-division flyweight champion Brian “Hawaiian Punch” Viloria and WBO light flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes were all impressed and believed both Filipino boxers are ready for their respective bouts on Oct. 17.
Viloria, who has a record of 36-4 (win-loss) with 22 knockout wins, will face the unbeaten WBC world flyweight king Roman “El Chocolatito” Gonzales (43-0, 37KOs) of Nicaragua at the Madison Square Garden in New York City while Nietes, who holds a 36-1-4 (win-loss-draw) slate with 21 wins by KOs, will defend his WBO Lightflyweight title against Mexican Juan “Pinky” Alejo (21-3, 13KOs) at the Stubhub Center in Carson City, California.
One of the person who was very impressed with the two boxers was Nietes’ trainer Edito Villamor of ALA Boxing Gym.
In a report from Philboxing.com, Villamor said both boxers are very fluid inside the ring at the Wildcard Gym of hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach in downtown Los Angeles.
Villamor said Viloria’s stamina is outstanding after the latter added three more rounds following his sparring with Nietes, this time against a Mexican boxer. Nietes also added three more rounds.
Roach’s assistant trainer Marvin Somodio, who works with Viloria, said both boxers are in great shape and are ready for their upcoming fights.
