CEBU City’s Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification, and Enhancement (PROBE) team has sent a 72-hour notice to vendors asking them to demolish their structures that obstruct roads leading to cemeteries.
The move is part of the city’s preparation for the coming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Illegal structures should be demolished by Monday, said Raquel Arce, chief of PROBE.
Arce said vendors will still be allowed to put up stalls near cemeteries but in specific areas.
“We are allowing vendors to sell but in a spacious sidewalk,” said Arce.
No permanent structures will be allowed. Makeshift beds will not also be allowed as each stall should only occupy a meter of the sidewalk, Arce said.
Arce added some 62 policemen will be deployed in barangays with cemeteries to assist and control the flow of traffic on Oct. 29-31.
“This is a combined effort of our operation, engineering, planning, communication and education divisions,” said Arce.
