AFTER meeting at least 5,000 supporters at the Lapu-Lapu Hoops Dome in the morning, Liberal Party’s presidential candidate Mar Roxas went south of Cebu to meet mayors and other supporters and to attend Boljoon town’s fiesta.
“Namyesta lang po ako dito. Tuwang tuwa po ako sa maayos na pagtanggap at salubong nila dito (I am just attending a fiesta here. I am happy with the warm reception here),” Roxas said. He was asked by reporters if he was conducting a loyalty check among allies in the first, second, third and seventh districts of Cebu.
Local officials and allies in these areas gathered at Brumini Resort in Poblacion Boljoon, southeast Cebu.
“We discussed with your local officials earlier about how to hasten the growth and governance of your areas,” Roxas said in Filipino to the gathered allies.
He vowed to continue priorities of the Aquino administration and government services like the 4Ps.
He said that it would be a a challenge to continue ‘Daang Matuwid’ or the staight path of good governance.
Roxas in an interview said that he also plans to have more infrastructure in Cebu.
“Cebu as a center of trade, education and manufacture. Bibigyan natin ito ng halaga para mas maraming marating ang mga produkto ng Cebu,” he said.
The gathering was attended by Dalaguete Mayor Ronald Allan Sesante, Alcoy mayor Eugene Singson, Badian councilor and mayoral candidate Carmencita Lumain, Badian councilor and provincial board member candidate Jerome Librando, Dr Gilberto Magallon, representing his wife Alegria Mayor Verna Magallon, and Samboan Mayor Raymond Calderon.
Others present were second district Rep. Wilfredo Caminero, PB Member Peter John Calderon, Alcantara Mayor Beatriz Cabernay, Ginatilan Mayor Dean Michael Singson, Aloguinsan Mayor Cynthia Moreno, Santander Mayor Marilyn Wenceslao, and Sogod Mayor Lissa Marie Durano.
After lunch, Boljoon Mayor Merlou Derama and Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III introduced Roxas as their standard bearer and the next president of the Philippines.
