CFA booters face unbeaten NOFA today in Bacolod

The official squad of the Cebu Football Association (CFA) in the ongoing Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Smart-Under 22 Amateur Championships Regional Qualifying tournament faces a tough foe today at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

CFA, which currently has a 1-1 (win-loss) record, will take on the unbeaten Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) today.

The Cebu bets opened their campaign with a dominating 4-1 victory yesterday against the Leyte Football Association (LFA) but then bowed down to Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA), 0-1, in their second match in the afternoon.

The team is mostly composed of players from the University of Cebu (UC), the champion team of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. It is bolstered by players from the University of San Carlos (USC) and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

The NOFA will be a tough team to beat as it has had  a smooth campaign so far, logging two wins by nipping NORFA, 6-1, in the other opening match and LFA, 9-0, in its second match.

CFA will still have a chance to take the top spot if it beats NOFA today.

Only the top team in the regional qualifying tournament will advance in the national finals.

CFA’s U-22 squad is composed of  Benedick Saligan, Isherson Caceres, Caballero, Mathias Arizabal, Tekeme Ayibapreye, Ethan Decena, Erwin Cortes, John Roy Melgo, Mark Niñolas, Paul Ogar, Aquillo Enopia, Ralph Plaza,Janry Acaso, Allain Abella, Simon Patangan, Cloyd Abare, Ezekpeazu Chile Bossah and Ron Tiampong.
