USC v’belles unbeaten in Cesafi beach volley
The University of San Carlos (USC) kept its immaculate record intact by pulling off four successive victories in the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) girls’ beach volleyball tournament yesterday at the SWU sand courts.
The USC duo of Ressel Pedrosa and Kate Chantal Rodriguez took off to a great start when they scored a 21-14, 21-9 rout of the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters. The Warriors pair then followed up that win with a come-from-behind victory against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), 18-21, 21-19, 15-10.
The red-hot USC duo maintained their momentum in the afternoon, handing the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) its first loss of the season via a 21-14, 21-10 decision before dominating the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) in straight sets, 21-9, 21-7.
Also in the girls’ division, Southwestern University (SWU) rebounded from its loss to USPF by listing two straight victories. The Lady Cobras first defeated UC, 21-10, 21-11, before defeating USJ-R, 21-19, 16-21, 15-5.
In other games, CEC stayed winless after dropping its last two assignments. The Dragons lost to USJ-R, 5-21, 9-21, and UC, 17-21, 16-21. USPF, meanwhile, survived SWU, 18-21, 21-9, 15-10.
