CEBU will continue to experience rains in the afternoons or evenings this week, the weather bureau said.
Alfredo Quiblat, chief of Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) Mactan, said the rains are caused by the tail end of a cold front brought by the northeast monsoon or amihan.
The northeast monsoon will prevail until February, he added.
No other weather disturbance has been observed within and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
But Quiblat said the forecast is that at least one typhoon will enter PAR this December.
Temperature is a bit lower at 24 to 31 degrees Celsius from the usual 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
Despite the prevailing northeast monsoon, the El Niño phenomenon is still in effect in the country.
“The obvious effect is the continuing reduction in rainfall (to below normal and way below normal levels),” he said.
Below normal of rains means 20 percent reduction of rain while way below normal is 60 percent reduction of rain from the average volume.
For November, Quiblat said the amount of rainfall recorded was 24 millimeters of rain. The normal average for November is 158.7 millimeters of rain.
For December, normal average will be 120 millimeters of rain.
