Kings test Elite today in Angeles

Game today
Angeles City
5 p.m.- Brgy. Ginebra vs. Blackwater

THE Barangay Ginebra Kings try to get back on track when they play lowly Blackwater Elite in an out-of-town game of the 41st PBA Philippine Cup today in Angeles City.

The Kings saw their three-game win streak come to an end when they got waylaid by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 86-94, last Sunday.

The loss dropped the Kings to 4-4 (win-loss) in a three-way tie with the Barako Bull Energy and NLEX Road Warriors for the sixth to ninth spots in the team standings.

Blackwater sorely needs a victory as it currently sports a 1-6 record.

The Elite have lost their last four games and are in danger of missing the playoffs again. The team is just half-game ahead of the Meralco Bolts, who only have one win in nine outings.

Blackwater’s lone win was against Meralco, which they beat last Nov. 4, 92-90.

Ginebra is expected to capitalize on its imposing size advantage led by Cebuano big man Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar.

The Tim Cone-coached Kings also have Mark Caguioa, Joe Devance, LA Tenorio, Chris Ellis, Sol Mercado and rising rookie Scottie Thompson.

Blackwater of head coach Leo Isaac will count on Mike Cortez, Carlo Lastimosa, Raphy Reyes and rookie Art Dela Cruz.
