IT’S all systems go for tomorrow’s first ever Christmas Fitness Festival and Run that will start and end at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

Organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cebu Mactan Channel in partnership with the world’s biggest 24/7 workout fitness center, Anytime Fitness , the Christmas Run has 500 runners. The race is for the benefit of Lahug Elementary School’s Special Education (Sped) Department.

The run will have three-kilometer, 6k and 12k distances and will be handled by veteran race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).

“It’s all systems go for Sunday. Although this is a non-competitive running event, we still have exciting prizes for our winners as Skechers will be giving out gift certificates and other prizes,” said Idyll Liza Peroramas, JCI Cebu Mactan Channel president during yesterday’s final press conference held at the Skechers Outlet in Ayala Center Cebu.

She was joined by overall project chairperson Ethel Grace Escaño and Anytime Fitness Philippines representatives who will lead the fitness festival on Dec. 7-9, also at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

“This is our first time to have this kind of event in our aim to help those who are less fortunate rather than spending for Christmas parties. How can you serve longer if you’re not healthy?

That’s why we decided to do this event instead of partying,” said Peroramas.

The fitness festival meanwhile, will accommodate walk-in participants during the three-day event where they will do fitness classes and fitness challenges.

Also present yesterday were representatives from Crossfit Pintados and Flow Genesis Parkour who will lay-out the different challenges in the fitness festival.

The 12k finishers will receive medals while the rest of the participants joining the shorter distances will receive finishers’ certificate.

On-site registrants are also welcome. Registration fee  is pegged at P350, P450 and P550 for the 3k, 6k and 12k distances, respectively and P300 for the fitness festival.
