In the wake of adverse reports about patient deaths in province-run hospitals, the Capitol’s human resource department is reminding staff to do “service with a heart.”
“Those in the frontline should start with a greeting and a smile,” said Bhobby Nacorda, HR management officer IV, during the weekly Kapistorya forum.
He said the half-day training program “Service with a Heart” will be conducted for medical personnel of all 16 provincial and district hospitals in Cebu. The program started last Sept. 15 with other departments covering 1,046 employees.
Staff have to communicate and establish an emotional link with a patient that tells them that “we are here to serve.”
“To better serve (our clients), we need to understand them better,” said Nacorda.
In earlier reports, medical personnel in province-run hospitals were criticized for being cold and indifferent to patients, especially those in rural areas.
