Mandaue police has new OIC

THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) has a new officer-in-charge (OIC) after Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr. was assigned to Negros Island Regional Police Office as its chief of staff.

He was replaced by Supt. Julian Entoma, who was OIC on Mandaue police before Natu-el took over and served for five months.

Entoma said the police are gearing up for the start of dawn masses on December 16.

Police visibility will be increased to prevent criminal elements who are drawn to crowds during the Christmas season, he said.

One high-profile case left unresolved during Natuel’s term is the murder of lawyer Amelie Ocañada Alegre.

No arrests have been made although Natuel, at one point, said police had an idea who the mastermind was.

Alegre was driving a BMW sedan in Mandaue city when two men ambushed the car in barangay Looc last August 13.

Wounded in the attack were Alegre’s law firm partner Briccio Joseph Boholst and staff member Antonio Pino.
